Up for sale is a matched pair (2 pieces) of vintage NEC (Nippon Electric) 5R-HH5 / ECC83 / 12AX7 high-gain audio dual triodes, brand new in their original NEC Tokyo Japan factory boxes. Manufactured in Japan, these rare tubes feature internal grey plates, top square getters, and crisp yellow print on the glass. Highly prized by vintage audio enthusiasts for their balanced dynamic response, quiet performance, and rich harmonic detail in preamplifiers and guitar amplifiers.
As shown, both tubes have been thoroughly tested on our laboratory-grade Amplitrex AT1000 tube tester. Plate current (Ip) and mutual conductance (uMhos) measurements alongside percentage performance ratings relative to nominal specs are detailed in the table below.
